Jacob Anderskov’s RESONANCE:
Cæcilie Balling (violin)
Mette Brandt (viola)
Jacob Anderskov (piano)
Jonas Westergaard (bass)
Peter Bruun (drums)
ENGLISH
Jacob Anderskov has been widely hailed as “a dazzling new force in European jazz” (Jazzwise), and his RESONANCE project moves effortlessly around the areas between improvisation, new music, jazz, folk music and European classical music. Consisting of three virtuoso string players, who highlight a poetic beauty in Anderskov’s music, alongside the strong improvisations of Peter Bruun (drums/percussion) & Anderskov himself on piano, the music is grandiose and simplistic, lyrical yet experimental and immediate.
Pianist, band leader and composer Jacob Anderskov, has received numerous awards, including “Danish Jazz Composer of the Year 2013” at the Danish Music Awards and has released 25+ albums as a bandleader. He draws on his vast experience as a professional pianist and composer, his violin studies as a child, as well as his many years of immersion in 20th century “new music”. Yet the resulting music is more Anderskovian than it is “classical” or “jazz”. He is inspired by a Miles Davis quotation, “You listen… then you play” – to react meaningfully with others depends on your ability to take in your surroundings whilst acting in accordance with who you are – resulting in genuine interplay.
Reviews:
“Anderskov expands sonic language of Danish Jazz. … Superb.” Peter Margasak, Down Beat, March 2013
“Danish pianist Anderskov has been remarkably prolific over the past decade or so, winning multiple awards and being widely hailed as a dazzling new force in European jazz. (…) Anderskov himself proves on track after track that virtuosity and vision don ́t have to be mutually exclusive”. Marcus O’Dair, Jazzwise Magazine, May 2013
“Over the last decade or so, pianist Jacob Anderskov has emerged as one of the most exciting and original voices … deeply modern…” Down Beat, November 2010

No. 2 i 4 formblokke
Søren Kjærgaard, piano
Peter Bruun, slagtøj
Jonas Westergaard, kontrabas og komposition
….spiller d.18.nov i Koncertkirken, København, no. 2, første gang opført i 2014 i Reservenspeicher, Berlin.
