EARLY MONDAY
Anna Paradiso (IT/SE) – cembalo
Musik af Louis Couperin, William Byrd, Alessandro Scarlatti, Francois Couperin, Johan Helmich Roman, Joseph-Nicolas-Pancrace Royer.
Anna Paradiso has been recently descibed by the critics as ’one of today’s leading keyboard players‘ (Musicweb-international, England) and ’absolute gem of a harpsichordist’ (Fanfare, USA). Born in Bari (Italy), she moved to Sweden in 2006 and since then she has performed in many prestigious venues in Scandinavia, England, Germany, France, Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Spain, Poland, Greece, the USA, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Lebanon.
As a soloist and continuo player, Anna Paradiso has appeared with numerous Scandinavian ensembles and orchestras such as: Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble, Orfeus Barock Stockholm, Rebaroque, Drottnigholm Theatre Orchestra, Gävle Symphony Orchestra, Norrbotten NEO, Höör Barock, Baroque Academy Gothenburg Symphony, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, Norrbotten Chamber Music Orchestra, etc. Both as soloist and as continuo-player she has also performed, among others, with Philarmonia Moment Musical (Taipei), Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Birmingham Conservatory Orchestra, Radovlijca Festival ensemble, etc. Her 17 recordings as soloist and chamber-musician for the international label BIS on harpsichord, fortepiano, clavichord and piano have been acclaimed with international praises. Together with musical director Dan Laurin and Höör Barock she received a Swedish Grammis in 2020. She has also recorded for Barn Cottage Records and for Arcantus. Her repertoire as soloist spams from baroque pieces to 19th century music for fortepiano, from modern to contemporary works for harpsichord and piano. In 2019 the Swedish Royal Academy of Music awarded her the prestigious Bernadotte Scholarship for a project on rhetorics and keyboard-improvisation in baroque Neapolitan music.
She is currently harpsichord professor at the conservatory in Matera (Italy) and artistic researcher at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with a project within a repertoire for historical keyboard-instruments financed by the Swedish Research Council.
Paradiso is also PhD doctor in ancient Greek and Latin and has taught classical languages in several universities.
